biography
Dutch violoncellist Renate Apperloo studied cello with Mick Stirling at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, she continued her studies with prof. Leonid Gorokhov at the Hochschüle fur Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover where she obtained her masters degree in 2023 with the highest distinction.
She performed as a soloist with orchestras in and outside the Netherlands and played as a chambermusician several times in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, as well as for the Dutch television and radio. Throughout her studies, she was invited to play at festivals like: Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, International Chamber Music Festival of Janine Jansen, ISA Festival Austria, International Holland Music Sessions, European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) and the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam.
As an orchestral musician, Renate played as a substitute with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, South Netherlands Philharmonic, Philharmonisches Orchester Würzburg, Pynarello and the Metropole Orchestra.
Renate is a member of the Helikon String Quartet (founded in 2015). With whom she recorded two CD’s. Since 2017 the quartet is a member of the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSQA), where they received regular coaching from Quatuor Ébène, Quatuor Danel, Cuarteto Quiroga and Eberhard Feltz.
She has been recipient of several scholarships and awards a.o. “het Kersjes Fonds” String Quartet Stipendium (2021), Stipendium der Region Hannover (2020/2021), Yehudi Menuhin Foundation “Live Music Now” Hannover (2019), International Holland Music Sessions, Stichting Niemeijer Foundation and she was a prizewinner of the Princes Christina Competition.
She received masterclasses from: prof. Reinhard Latzko, prof. Wen-Sinn Yang, prof. Jérôme Pernoo, prof. Chu Yi-Bing, prof. Maria Kliegel and prof. Pieter Wispelwey.
Renate plays a Finnigan and Klaembt Cello from Bremen (2013) and a Harm Bakker bow.
